Heidi Alford Frederic is a much loved teacher from Ascension Parish, Louisiana who recently attended the Women’s March in Washing, DC. As she passed the Trump hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue, a photo was taken as she showed her disdain for our misogynist in chief. The…

Justice Is Sweet

Trump just dared the Mexican President, Enrique Peña Nieto, to cancel their scheduled meeting if Mexico was not prepared to pay for a gigantic border wall. Mexico has no interest in paying for Trump’s jewel of a campaign promise. Peña Nieto, who not surprisingly objected…

With Friends Like That…

Today we have proof of what we’ve suspected all along. Insurance companies lie and hide the truth about their profits.

Aetna Gets Caught

Bullshit propaganda radicalizes Americans in the same way that bullshit Islamic beliefs radicalize terrorists. They were not born terrorists. Someone fed them the bullshit which led to erroneous beliefs and unconscionable actions. How is that any different than what is going on in our country right now?

We Used To Be Better Than This

I do not believe our forefathers ever envisioned the system morphing into one in which a candidate can win the popular vote by 2.6 million votes (and still counting) yet lose the election. Twice in the last 16 years our citizens have chosen one candidate via popular vote only to have our flawed electoral system anoint the loser as president.
We’ve outgrown the system as it exists today. Fix it or ditch it.

The Electoral College. Fix It Or Ditch It.

I know many people who voted for Trump. Some I expected but also many I didn’t. I am just trying to wrap my head around what exactly made this indecent man acceptable to some of my friends and family, people I love and who love me.

The profession of journalism has failed us in many ways over the last 30 years, often prioritizing ratings over substance, profits over principals, but even in their present flawed form they remain a vital source of information. Now more than ever we need the mainstream media to help us separate fact from fiction, to verify the sources, to fulfill their mission of informing a free citizenry.

There’s an old saying, “What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.” I’m not sure that’s true. What doesn’t kill us may be lurking in the weeds, patiently waiting to have another go at it.

The River Will Do What The River Will Do

From, of all things, an advertisement. But I’ve always loved it.

There’s a place that I travel,

When I want to roam

And nobody knows it but me.

The roads don’t go there,

And the signs stay home

And nobody knows it but me.

It’s far, far away and way, way afar,

It’s over the moon and the sea,

And wherever you are going,

That’s wherever you are

And nobody knows it but me.
