About
Lynn McMorris is a freelance writer and photographer who recently relocated from the Amite River near French Settlement to New Roads, Louisiana, due to rising waters and flooding caused by climate change. She writes about various topics, including veterans’ issues, progressive politics, Louisiana life, food, healthcare, and anything else that piques her interest or stirs her emotions. Her work has been featured in 225 Magazine, The Louisiana Sportsman, and EatLikeANative.com.
As a photographer, Lynn offers family, event, and commercial drone photography services. She is a member of the Professional Photographers of America and the Louisiana Photographic Society and is certified as a Remote UAS Pilot through the FAA.
Lynn recently retired as a critical care registered nurse, having gained extensive experience in Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Intensive Care, Surgical Intensive Care, Emergency Departments and Trauma Centers, Cardiac Intensive Care, and the Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
As a former travel nurse and full-time RV enthusiast, she embraced the road as her home while taking contracts from California to Maine and from the Mexican border to Alaska. This included working as an emergency room and flight nurse in Anchorage, AK, as well as several contracts within the Navajo Nation. During her travels, she enjoyed paddling, fishing, hiking, and backpacking through some of the nation’s most beautiful landscapes. Through these experiences, Lynn learned a simple yet profound truth: friends and adventure are the true wealth of life.
She is also the founder of LMC Staffing Strategies, where she has provided staffing solutions for both large and small inpatient hospital facilities. Lynn played a key role in establishing a national triage center for a major primary care group serving twenty-seven states. Through LMCSS’s consulting services, she has assisted numerous entrepreneurial nurses in structuring their businesses.
Before becoming a registered nurse, Lynn worked as a nationally registered EMT-Paramedic in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana, as well as an EMT-Paramedic and firefighter on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Additionally, she co-founded EatLikeANative.com, where she explored locally-owned, hidden gem restaurants in Louisiana, sharing their stories and secrets to help others escape chain restaurants and savor the treasures of Louisiana cuisine.
Through her involvement with The Never Quit Never Forget Gala and the Just Cause Flag Campaign, Lynn has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for foundations that support military personnel, veterans, and their families.
Other interests include progressive politics, healthcare as a right, women’s issues, and climate change.
In her downtime, Lynn enjoys spoiling her adorable but seemingly dim-witted cats, Debit and Credit. You can follow her on Bluesky Social @lynnlaughs.bsky.social and join her on Facebook through the Blue On The Bayou group.
